Hawaii

Hawaii, the 50th state of the United States of America. Located near the center of the north Pacific Ocean, Hawaii has a population of 1,211,537. Known for it's natural beauty, Hawaii is a very popular tourist getaway.

Get in:

Entry to Hawaii is the same as those with other states of the US.

Coming by plane, most international flights come into Honolulu.

By boat, there are limited numbers of trans-Pacific cruises to Hawaii that leave from ports on the West Coast.

Get around:

By plane, there are four inter-island airlines available. Travelers can save money and time by planning "triangle routes" that arrive in Hawaii on one island and leave on another.

Hawaii Superferry runs a ferry service between Oahu and Maui daily. There are some charter boats available but it can get rough. Norwegian Cruise Lines also operates both U.S.-flagged and foreign flagged cruise ships between the islands.

TheBus is a popular public transport that offers excellent service.

Bring a car is very impractical in Hawaii unless you plan to stay for a while since it can be costly. You can opt to rent one though. Car rentals should be booked as soon as possible as the price charged is based on a supply/demand basis. The exception is Waikiki where you will not need a car on a permanent basis so just rent a car the day before you want one.
