Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, located in Volusia County, East Central Florida. Known as the home of NASCAR and  the “World Center of Racing”. It has a 23-mile stretch of white sandy beach with over 8 million visitors flocking to the area every year.  

Get in: 

Daytona Beach International Airport is the main airport with two other airports namely, the Orlando International and the Jacksonville International, both of which are about an hour away.

By car, Daytona Beach can be accessed by interstate I-95 that runs north and south and I-4 connecting Daytona Beach with Orlando and Tampa as well as U.S. Highway 1 which also passes through Daytona Beach. A1A is a scenic North/South route along the beach.

By bus, Daytona Beach is serviced by Greyhound Bus Lines. The Greyhound routes from Daytona Beach connect with hubs in Jacksonville and Orlando.

Amtrak serves the rail services of Daytona Beach.

Although it is not a major port, Daytona Beach can also be accessed by private boats via the Intracoastal Waterway. 

Get around: 

Getting around by car is great except for the occasional traffic jams during afternoons and Saturday nights. The roads are wide and easy to drive. There are car rental companies in or near the airport.

Having said that driving in a car is great, it goes the same for motorcycles too.

Getting around by bus, VOTRAN offers cheap access around the county.

There are taxis too but they can cost more.

Daytona Beach is one of the most exciting beaches in America. It is home to the famous spring break tradition of partying and live concerts that hordes of college students attend. Sports enthusiasts come here to see car races and visit the Daytona USA racing museum that features awesome racecars. And in fall season, the Biketoberfest attracts bikers from all over the country to take part in the annual four-day fest.

One of the most famous rituals in college is the spring break. Thousands of college students head to beach during this season and most of them go to Daytona Beach for a week-long party. They come in buses or cars with only beach gear in their bags. They come for the beach and the company of fellow students glad to be out of their colleges and universities. Organizers put up free concerts and games, and the environment is simply lots of fun. This has been a tradition that only gets bigger every year.
