Brazil

Brazil is a massive country situated on the equator in South America, with much of the land surface covered in tropical rainforests. The rainforest is breading ground for thousands of species of fauna and flora, and has some of the most attractive wooded landscape in the world.

The rainforest of Brazil is also home to the largest river in the world, The Amazon. The Amazon has 1500 types of fish and is also home to crocodiles, freshwater dolphins and turtles. The area around the Amazon is known as the Amazon Basin.

The Amazon basin is a massive jungle with extreme growth, due to its exceptionally warm weather and heavy tropical rain. Home to some of the world's most colourful wildlife the Amazon basin has 75,000 different types of trees that grow extremely high creating an excellent canopy that supports a vast population of monkeys, bats, all types of birds, tree frogs as well as providing cover for many different plants. The Amazon region is home to over 2.5 million different insects and over 40,000 different plants.

There are many different ways of exploring the region and seeing the jungle. One way to see the jungle without disturbing the natural habitat is to take a cruise along the Amazon and its many small rivers.

To experience the way of life that many Brazilian tribal people live, trekking through the jungle will be a remarkable experience. Trekking is far from easy but jungle tour operators offer very good safaris.

Due to the expansion of agriculture and the growth of cities and towns the Amazon region is constantly under threat from deforestation. As the forests are destroyed, many different types wildlife become homeless or close to extinct.

If you do decide to travel to Brazil and especially into the rainforest you must remember to respect the wildlife and nature. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Be aware and keep a low tone in the jungle. Wildlife will here, smell and see you ever before you spot them. Many of the animals in the jungle are  dangerous if they feel their habitat threatened. On the jungle floor lives great wildlife predators including Jaguars which prey on large birds and mammals.

Make sure that you are travelling in a group and carry only what you need. Trekking can become trying and the heat may become excessive.

Don't wear perfumes or cologne - strange scents will put a greater distance between you and the wildlife.

Other areas of interest in the Amazon region are the wet lands the take up vast areas. These areas are ideal for bird watchers and people with an interest in ecology. Every year more and more creatures are discovered in these areas.

For many a trip to the annual carnival held in Rio is a great way to experience Brazil, but for someone looking for a bit more excitement the jungles of Brazil offer everything that the adventure seeker could want.

To be honest with you, before going to Ceara, Brazil, my husband and I did not know what to expect there. We were conscious that it could be both, unbelievably good or bad. To our surprise, what we discovered for ourselves was a very pleasant weather, lots of sun, and superb beaches. All of the above make Ceara one of the main tourist destinations of Northeast in Brazil. It is located right below the line of the Equator, and has 573 km of coast along the Atlantic Ocean. The sea breeze softens the temperature, making the air to be about between 23C at night and 30C during the day all year around, and has a typical tropical climate.

In Fortaleza, Brazil we stayed for a few nights around Beira Mar Ave., were a hand made crafts market was opened every single evening. Along the street, there were many people advertising different travel destinations along coast of Ceara. First that got our attention was a small and charming place called Jericoacoara. Jericoacoara (Jeri, called by Brazilians) as we learned later is the most wanted tourist attraction in Ceara too. It is far away from modern world, and offers a quiet refuge into paradise while staying there. Jeri is one of the most unique and beautiful beaches in the world.

A nation that is rich in sights and attractions, Brazil is one of the best destination choices when you fly south of America. Brazil is the 5th largest and 5th most populous country in the world. Its territory spans from the Atlantic Ocean to the central and east of South America, dwarfing the neighboring countries of Argentina, Uraguay, and Paraguay in the south, Bolivia and Peru in the east, and Columbia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana in the north.

Brazil is a very popular choice among tourists because it offers a lot of attractions such as exotic places like beautiful beaches and world-famous events like the Rio Carnival. Some of the most famous places that tourists go to include the Copacobana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, the Iguacu Falls in Parana and the Museo Arte de Sau Paolo in Sau Paolo. However, going to most of the exotic places in Brazil can be very challenging not only because the country is one of the largest countries in the world but going to foreign country will always involve taking the necessary steps to make the trip more enjoyable and safe.
