Tips for Planning Your Florida Island Vacation – The Low-Down on Marco Island Rentals, Activities, a

The Calusa Indians inhabited Marco Island on Florida’s southwest coast over 5,000 years ago and much of the natural beauty that existed then can still be found here today.  This island is truly an unspoiled Floridian paradise.  Home to lush tropical landscapes, over 200 species of birds, and stunning azure waters, the island offers even the most seasoned of travelers plenty of reasons to return.  Check out Marco Island rentals if you want to save money while enjoying all the natural beauty that surrounds you.

Beaches

When it comes to reasons why travelers choose Marco Island as their vacation destination year after year, the beaches are one of the biggest reasons that come to mind.  The beaches here are characterized by their soft white sands, crystalline, shallow waters, and swaying palms.  Much of the area is highly developed but there are also a few beaches where you can experience a truly secluded day of beachcombing.  Sand Dollar Island is a bird nesting area that can be reached by wading across a small lagoon at Tigertail Beach.  Sand Dollar Island has no amenities whatsoever but the beaches are absolutely gorgeous.  If you prefer an area with picnic tables, bathrooms, and other creature comforts, stick with Tigertail Beach or Residents Beach.

Activities

Activities that can be enjoyed in the area include golfing, fishing, eco-tours, boating, and water sports.  The gentle gulf breeze is a pleasant addition to every activity available for your enjoyment here on the island.  If you are a golf enthusiast, you will have the time of your life here.  There are more golf courses per capita in Southwest Florida than any other location in the US.  If you like fishing, you will also be delighted here on Marco Island.  Some of the fish you can catch in the area include tarpon, willy snook, cobia, redfish, pompano, and grouper.  Lease your own boat or hop aboard a guided charter to discover the best fishing spots in the area.  If you enjoy seeing wildlife and other natural attractions, you will adore the eco-tours that are available in the southwest region of Florida.  Whether you want to view the gorgeous sunset aboard a dinner cruise or head out over the azure waters for a manatee or dolphin excursion, you will have the sightseeing adventure of a lifetime in and around this island.

Tips for Finding Accommodations

Marco Island accommodations abound.  No matter what kind of vacation you are hoping to have, you will be able to find a hotel that suits your needs and budget on the island.  The island does have the reputation of being aimed towards upscale tourists but that doesn’t mean you can’t find affordable places to stay here.  Usually, your best bet in affordable accommodations is with Marco Island rentals.  You can have a spacious condo or house to yourself with access to a pool, tennis courts, and private Jacuzzi if you stay at a rental.  When it comes to price, privacy, and location, rentals are certainly your best bet.
