Belle Island Village to Open Fall 2008 in Pigeon Forge

An island? In Pigeon Forge? Absolutely! And in fall 2008, all the world will be welcomed to the latest entertainment development in the Smokies: Belle Island Village.

You'll feel as though you've stepped back in time to a quaint Old South river town. According to press releases, "The development is situated on an actual island where the Little Pigeon River splits." Soon to be filled with attractions, dining, shopping and accommodations, this 26-acre, $114 million endeavor has enlisted some of the biggest names in show business and sports to ensure it delivers a one-of-a-kind experience.

Debbie Reynolds Hollywood Motion Picture Museum

What's considered the largest of its kind and valued at over $50 million? Debbie Reynolds' collection of Hollywood movie artifacts. The Belle Island website boasts, "The museum will feature interactive exhibits including two large state of the art theaters and 10 themed pavilions showing original clips and displaying artifacts from almost every Academy Award-winning film."

With over 3,500 costumes - including Marilyn Monroe's famous white dress and Dorothy's ruby red slippers from the Wizard of Oz - visitors will get to see the perfectly preserved collection Debbie Reynolds has maintained for years. In addition, many artifacts will be up for sale in the gift shop. You can actually take home a piece of Hollywood history of your own.

Darryl Waltrip's Racing Experience

What's it like to round turn four at almost 200 miles per hour? How complicated is it really to change four tires on a race car in under 15 seconds? Just how much talent does it take to call a live NASCAR race anyway? You can find out for yourself when you visit Darryl Waltrip's Racing Experience.

In this pavilion of Belle Island Village, you'll discover numerous simulators that make you feel as though you're right in the middle of the action. Drive, pit or call races with all the thrills of actually being right there.

Otter Cover by the Knoxville Zoo

Funny, whimsical and oh-so-smart! You'll love watching the otters in Otter Cover. The Knoxville Zoo will present these incorrigible and clever creatures for you to enjoy as they swim, dive and play.

Kid's Corner

Who doesn't love a carnival? Kid's Corner will feature all your favorites including rides, arcade games, amusements plus games that reward with tickets, which can then be redeemed for prizes.

Fall is an exceptional time to visit the Smokies. The changing of the leaves makes for a magical environment. Belle Island Village delivers over 90 specialty stores and demonstration crafts, three major restaurants, as well as casual food vendors and hotel accommodations. You'll relish in the convenience, fun and luxury of this latest jewel in the Smoky Mountains crown slated to open fall 2008.
