Michigan

Michigan is surrounded by four Great Lakes with many miles of shoreline, breath taking waterfalls, the highest sand dunes, pine forests and miles of beaches. Michigan has two peninsulas each surrounded by Great Lakes shoreline connected by the five mile Mackinaw bridge.

Vacationing in Michigan depends on what you like to do for yourself or your family: Camping, boating and swimming in the summer months around early June to early September; Fall colors are beautiful during the months of September and October; Winter with its many ski slopes and snow mobile trails last from December until early March Check out the many vacation rentals along the inland lakes or Great Lakes such as quaint Bed and Breakfast Inns or cottages.

Michigan's economy is diverse with manufacturing companies such as automotive, tourism and agriculture. The cereal capital is located in Battle Creek, home of Kellogg's. Farming is very important with a variety of crops from vegetables to fruits, including the famous red tart cherrys of Traverse City.
Michigan is a key player with its Great Lakes for shipping and Escanaba and Marquette offering iron ore.
For the business person traveling there are many accommodations to choose from.

Politically Michigan has been traditionally a Republican state. Today Michigan is very diverse population of residents with the majority living in the southern portions of the lower peninsula with Wayne, Macomb and Oakland county near Detroit containing most of the population.
