Options include the services of an Esencia wedding planner who coordinates the ceremony and reception and pre- and post-ceremony activities, including yachting trips around the Caribbean Sea, trips to the Tulum ruins, gourmet Mexican cooking classes, organized tournaments on the beach, and more.
Esencia was transformed into an elegant estate for guests in 2005 by ProHotel International, which also operates the celebrated La Pleta Hotel and Spa in the Spanish Pyrenees and the Casanova Hotel in Barcelona, Spain. Esencia, located on Playa Xpu-Ha on a two mile stretch of fine white-sand beach 46 miles south of Cancun, is the essence of simplicity, elegance and beauty. Its spacious suites and guestrooms include a range of features from private gardens to solariums and deep-soaking plunge pools.
Sal y Fuego (Spanish for "salt and fire") specializes in Meso-American cuisine. The menu showcases the freshest local seafood as well as dishes from the rest of Mexico. The restaurant's ambience combines Mexican flair and rustic simplicity, with its palapa roof and view of a cenote, an illuminated underground fresh water pool.
Esencia's Aroma Spa, fully organic from its architecture to its products, harvests its own lush herb garden for indigenous fruits, plants and herbs. The 2,500 square foot palapa-roofed spa offers five treatment rooms, four Jacuzzis and two Mayan-style domed steam rooms.
