The largest city of Maine in USA, city of Bangor lies on the bank of Penobscot River. It is a prime commercial place in the region of Maine. Large timber producing and resort area, Bangor is home to many manufacturers of shoes, paper and electronic gadgets. There is an abundance of Technology institutes like Bangor Theological Seminary, Beal College, Husson College and several others in the city. It was recognized as a city in 1834. Bangor was a hub of major ship building works during 19th century. You will find the Bangor Airport to be the largest airport in United States.

This city has a population of more than 31, 473. Bangor Area Transit System is responsible for the public transport in the city. You can visit this place both in summer and winter. However, any of the four seasons allow people to have wonderful touring memories of attractive destinations within the city. Several tourists’ attractions are awaiting you to offer memorable moments.

One of the main attractions of Bangor city is the Bangor Public Library which boasts of collection of 500, 000 books. This library came into being in 1830. Maine Discovery Museum in the downtown area is another attraction for the children. You can find an attractive large statue of River Driver at the Luther H. Peirce Memorial which lies just next to the library. Besides these fantastic venues, some artistic ventures also allure the visitors a lot--the Bangor Symphony Orchestra is there since 1896.
