Murphy-Goode's Hospitality is 'All-In'
Responding to current "Green" trends in tourism, Murphy-Goode is opening a tasting room located at 20 Matheson Street in the town center of Healdsburg, Sonoma County, California on May 1, 2008. When Jackson Family Wines acquired Murphy-Goode in the summer of 2006, the decision was made to bring a personal wine experience to patrons of this busy wine tourism hub. The relocation to Healdsburg from several miles out of town saves visitors to the winery from a trek into Alexander Valley, and based on weekly average visitor counts to the old facility, this change will save about 75 gallons of gas a week!
Murphy-Goode is Coining the Phrase "All-In":
Murphy-Goode is coining the phrase "All-In" (a Poker term meaning to throw all of your chips into one pot) to paraphrase what they believe could catch on as a carbon-light method for touring wine regions. By centering the Murphy-Goode tasting room within walking distance of a hub of activity that wine country visitors are looking for; world class restaurants, hotels & spas and outstanding cycling, hiking and canoeing -- they hope visitors will take away a rich experience without the use of a car.
Sustaining a community is part of the overall advantages of "All-In." Aside from the obvious benefits of reducing travel by car, the benefits of keeping tourism within a village center will help to sustain its business health. Local and privately own businesses within this historic wine making bastion, gain from a concentrated audience delivered to them, wineries benefit from the draw of an "all in" experience, and the environment benefits when cars are taken off the road.
Down to Earth Hospitality Style:
Unique to Murphy-Goode is a legacy as a straight-talking, relaxed and fun-loving wine company. General Manager, Lorri Emmerich says of the new Healdsburg home, "We'll provide guests with the quintessential wine experience cloaked in originality." She adds, "The new tasting room will offer a completely relaxed approach to wine and an experience that is so personal you'll leave feeling like one of the family." Visitors will taste a regular line-up of Fume Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet as well as a reserve selection of wines in a relaxed and sun-filled room. The added value may be the good feeling guests will take with them for helping to keep the community green.
