Outer Banks N.C. - A Great Place For A Vacation

Well let me start out by saying I went to view a resort and among the many gifts we received was a 3 day 2 night vacation. We had 45 days to activate it and then up to 18 months to use it. But not wanting to wait to take a free vacation we decided to take it immediately, which was about 45 days after visiting one of the nicest resorts we have ever seen. Having never stayed in North Carolina we decided to go to Nags Head. Let me say if you have never been there you have to put it on you to do list. You go over this bridge and you are on an island that has an ocean on one side and bay on the other. This island goes for about 50 miles and the road is a straight as an arrow. It is a fairly narrow strip of land with mostly a lot homes on it.

The Lighthouses of the Outer Banks

On a dark night, far from the shores of North Carolina, ships may be guided safely to their respective ports by the beams of lighthouses and stations bordering the Outer Banks. Just as the lighthouses represent a means of security for sailors finding their way through difficult weather at sea, they also symbolize the romanticism of the nautical life. Each year, thousands of visitors come to the Outer Banks to see these impressive monuments, if only to briefly live vicariously through the light keepers of old and enjoy the stories they have to tell.

Romance On The Outer Banks

What's so romantic about the Outer Banks? Plenty! Imagine a wintertime walk along the beach, locked in the arms of the one you love. The air is chilly and you have to hold each other closely to stay warm. Maybe you brought a blanket so the two of you can snuggle as you relax on beautiful unspoiled beaches, as the rhythm of the surf sets an ideal mood. It is easy to see... winter is a perfect time for a romantic escape.

Take a trip to the Outer Banks in January or February, and you might find you have the place to yourself. This, of course, is a bit of an exaggeration, but if you have visited the coast of North Carolina in the winter and in the summer, you will know there is a huge difference.

The many unique towns that run along these narrow strips of sand will make your vacation unforgettable. Once you cross over the bridge you'll realize you reached paradise. From the northernmost tip which borders Virginia to the island of Ocracoke, which is accessible only by ferry, the diversity is truly breathtaking.

The Barrier Islands of the Outer Banks

The Outer Banks of North Carolina is a thin strip of fragile sand made up of a series of dynamic islands that migrate back and forth. The islands come and go as the inlets which separate them open up only to be eventually filled back in.

Vineyards of the Outer Banks

After months of saving, planning, and packing, you're finally ready to embark on your vacation to North Carolina's beautiful Outer Banks. You have the itinerary memorized - days and day of play on the beach, with maybe an excursion to the Currituck Beach lighthouse or the Wright Brothers memorial in Kitty Hawk. The trip promises to be wonderful, but if you are a fan of the grape it could be enhanced with tours of area wineries.
